Brief a sustainability report

Australia’s mandatory climate reporting is being phased in.

The new sustainability reporting regime applies to entities that already prepare an annual financial report under Chapter 2M of the Corporations Act and meet specified size, emissions or asset thresholds. It does not apply to every company or charity.

Reports include climate-related governance, strategy, risk management, metrics and targets under AASB S2. We turn approved content into a clear, accessible report, ready for review, assurance and publication.

  1. Group 11 January 2025Financial years beginning on or after this date
  2. Group 21 July 2026Financial years beginning on or after this date
  3. Group 31 July 2027Financial years beginning on or after this date

Small proprietary companies without Chapter 2M reporting obligations and registered charities not required to prepare a Chapter 2M annual financial report are outside this regime. Australia has about 65,000 registered charities, but that is sector context, not the number covered by mandatory climate disclosure.

Sustainability reporting, designed to be read

A sustainability report is often the most-read document an organisation publishes after its annual report. We help you plan, write around and design it so the key facts stand out: what you committed to, what you achieved and what comes next.

Voluntary and mandatory reporting

Most organisations publish voluntary sustainability or impact reports using GRI Standards or the UN SDGs. Mandatory AASB S2 climate reporting only applies to entities that must prepare Chapter 2M financial reports and meet size, emissions or asset thresholds. We design for both, and we recommend confirming your obligations with a qualified adviser.

Sustainability report design questions.

Short answers before you brief us.

What is sustainability report design?
It is the planning, layout, data visualisation and production of your sustainability, impact or climate report, so the content is clear, consistent and accessible.
What is the difference between a sustainability report and an ESG report?
A sustainability report usually tells your wider environmental and social story for all stakeholders. An ESG report is often investor-focused and framework-led. We design both, and often one document covers both needs.
Do you design sustainability reports outside Melbourne?
Yes. We design for organisations in every Australian capital and many regional cities, with remote reviews on your local business hours.
How much does a sustainability report cost?
Most sit between AUD $12,000 and $30,000 depending on length, charts and formats. You receive a fixed fee in writing within 48 hours.
